The annual ChinaJoy has expanded this year to 800 exhibitors showcasing over 3,500 products, with the organizers announced more than 273,000 visitors during the four-day event.
More than 273,000 people visited the ChinaJoy event in Shanghai which ended last weekend— a record attendance in the 12-year history of the country’s biggest gaming show, said the Event organizers. This was achieved despite scorching weather that might have dissuaded some people from attending and new restrictions to ensure that models at the event covered up more.
Yesterday alone, ChinaJoy — or the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference — attracted 43,827 visitors. Highlights of the event include e-sports, virtual reality gadgets and mobile games, leaving many attendees eager for more.
Visitors came to the ChinaJoy show for games and technology rather than to see sexy girls, said organizers and industry officials. Model agencies whose employees were deemed scantily clad faced fines of up to 10,000 yuan (US$1,600), said officials.
