Osaka-based Platinum Games has partnered with US publisher Activision to develop a game based on the The Legend of Korra animated series from Nickelodeon.
The Legend of Korra, debuting a third season on 27 June in North America, is the successor to the Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series, also produced by Nickelodeon.
The a cel-shaded, third-person combat title for Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 as well as Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PCs is slated for release later this year.
Platinum Games was founded as Seeds, Inc. in 2006 by former lead members of Capcom developer Clover Studio including Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya.
A turn-based strategy title for Nintendo 3DS based on the series is also being developed by US studio Webfoot Technologies for release this year.
