Japanese studio From Software has announced that Dark Souls series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has been appointed company president.
Miyazaki joined the Tokyo-based developer in 2004. He created and directed From Software’s Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls games, and supervised the production of the recently released Dark Souls sequel Dark Souls 2.
Demon’s Souls producer Masanori Takeuchi has also been named senior managing director of the studio.
In April Japanese media group Kadokawa acquired an 80 per cent majority stake in From Software. Kadokawa plans to finalise the acquisition in May and the studio will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kadokawa.
From Software has created several popular franchises including the Armored Core and Dark Souls series. The developer also published From Software games in Japan, and distributed the studio’s titles overseas in partnership with Bandai Namco and Sega.
