NHN Japan, a subsidary of Korean online game operator NHN Corporation, announced first financial quarter revenues for the company’s Line mobile messaging service of 12.8 billion JPY, up 45.3 per cent from the previous quarter.

Line recently reported that users of the company’s smartphone app had topped 200 million globally, with the user base growing beyond core markets in Japan and Korea to include India and the Philippines, as well as Spain and South American countries like Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Peru. 90 per cent of Line users are based outside of Korea, according to parent NHN.

The company has also announced that the Line and Line Play avatar community has grown to exceed 10 million users worldwide, with the mobile network expanding rapidly in Taiwan, Indonesia and Thailand.
