Korea’s Kakao game platform has acquired 30 million players, according to Kakao’s Eric Choi. The platform is part of the Kakao Talk mobile messaging service, with 100 million users and available in 12 languages and 200 countries.
According to Choi, eight Kakao games have generated more than 10 million downloads in Korea, with more than half of those from small developers. Anipang and Dragon Flight for Kakao have generated more than 20 million downloads.
Choi also said that annual revenues in the South Korean game market have tripled from US$300 million to more than US$1.1 billion.
