In continuing efforts to cut costs, Japanese mobile publisher and developer Gree has closed offices in Osaka and will shed circa 200 employees in a company-wide redundancy plan.

Following the layoffs, targeting 11 per cent of the company’s global workforce, around 30 employees from Osaka will be moved to the company’s headquarters in Tokyo. The latest moves follow Gree office closures earlier this year in the UK and China, as well as layoffs in the US.

Gree’s latest financial results show continuing profitability, but falling year on year results as new titles have failed to meet sales expectations.
