GungHo Online Entertainment and Gameloft, two leading publishers of digital and online games, are proud to report the success of Disney Magic Kingdoms, which was downloaded more than 1 million times only 20 days after its launch in Japan. The game has also been praised by players and reached the #1 spot on Japan’s Top Free Apps charts for both the App Store and Google Play over the course of several days.

“Disney Magic Kingdoms was well received all over the world, and we are pleased to see its success continuing in Japan,” says Baudouin Corman, Senior Vice-President Sales and Marketing at Gameloft. “Our collaboration with GungHo allowed us to integrate into the Japanese market and meet its demands. This first step in our strategic partnership with GungHo is very promising for the future of Gameloft in Japan.”

“Disney Magic Kingdoms is our first project together and its success confirms the positive synergy that has formed between our expertise in the Japanese video game market and Gameloft’s talent in game development,” adds Akihiko Ichikawa, Corporate Officer and Executive General Manager of Partners’ Publishing Division at GungHo.

GungHo was established as an online auction business in 1998. In 2002, the company shifted its business to online games and launched “Ragnarok Online” (an online PC game) in December of the same year. In 2011, the company started developing smartphone games and achieved 60million cumulative downloads worldwide with “Puzzle & Dragons”, released in 2012. Currently, GungHo develops, distributes and publishes smartphone games, consumer games and PC online games.
