The annual China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy) has been attracting global attention both inside and outside the games industry. This year, the 14th ChinaJoy will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center on July 28 to 31, 2016. The event is going to be advertised at the New York Times Square – the “Crossroads of the World,” instead of at the Bund of Shanghai as in previous years.
This year, ChinaJoy’s B2C and B2B exhibition areas will occupy a total area of nearly 140,000 square meters. The total number of exhibitors will be further dramatically increased to 900 as compared to the size last year, of which 200+ B2B exhibitors are expected to come from overseas. In addition, as many as 380 speakers will be invited to a variety of conferences, with nearly 40% of them being overseas industry celebrities, and over 5,500 media correspondents from all over the globe will attend. The target turnover of B2B deals is expected to amount to USD 400 million.
Currently, ChinaJoy has formed a pattern of “pan-digital entertainment” which takes China Digital Entertainment Expo (including B2B and B2C) as the core business, while also involving concurrent events such as Comic & Animation World Amazing Expo (C.A.W.A.E), China Digital Entertainment Congress (CDEC), China Game Developers Conference (CGDC) and World Mobile Game Conference (WMGC) covering multiple “pan-entertainment” formats such as PC online games, mobile games, video games, e-sports, comic & animation, film, music and online literature. The audience includes a large number of players, consumers, business people, technical developers, and other industry insiders.
The launch of ChinaJoy’s advertising campaign at Times Square shows that the Chinese pan-digital entertainment industry has gained substantial competitiveness and influence in the international market. With an excellent track record in the business, the upcoming 2016 ChinaJoy has a lot to show and expect.
